In 1992 my father left my mother, my brother, and myself in - TopicsExpress

In 1992 my father left my mother, my brother, and myself in Tanzania while he pursued higher education. He worked 3rd shift, unloaded trucks, and stayed with 3 or 4 other friends in an apartment. He had no guarantee that his family would join him. None. 2 years later God opened up a door and we did. In 1995 my parents and younger sister flew back to Africa for my grandads funeral. In 2003 my father flew back and buried his mother. Within the whole time period weve here weve missed out on funerals, weddings, family reunions, knowing my 4 currently deceased grandparents. Why? Because this country has opportunities not granted in our own country. When it comes to immigration the U.S government has messed up in the light of legal terms. What Americans dont know is this, nobody likes leaving their home country. Were sorta forced to. If education, jobs, etc. where easily available in my country, I wouldnt be here. I hate seeing people make fun of Hispanics, or other ethnicities because theyre, mooching off the welfare and making babies. Blame your government. On the flip side of the coin theyre are those who have immigrated and received an education, worked honest jobs, helped their families, and much more. Nothing was stopping my dad from dropping out of school, violating his student visa, and letting us live off welfare. He received a PhD, raised 3 kids, worked 2 jobs and still made the Deans list. Americans, people are running, jumping, and/or swimming to live here. Its extreme. Life risking. Your country is blessing. You should be honored. I wish I could say the same about my Tanzania. Yes, people who immigrate have different motives. On behalf of the people with good motives, thank you. When people talk about immigrants theyre talking about my family. Who sacrificed so much to gain even more. You probably have great negative opinion about all this. Keep it to yourself.
