In 1999 I was hired to teach & coach @ Paramount High School. It was my very first experience working with Samoan & Tongan kids on the same campus. I have to say it was some of the greatest times of my life professionally, spiritually, culturally, and socially. Our Polynesian students genuinely got along with each other. In fact, many were dating back then and are happily married today. I was proud to be mentors to my Tongan & Samoan kids. We laughed, cried, and clowned on each other all day long.lol. Working with guys like Peter Moli, David Poe, Alani Lehauli, Jerry Afemata (JBoog), Sonny Solomua and my girls Dini, Berlin, Va, Sina, and the Robertson sisters was an incredible experience. I used to wonder why they got along so well. That was until I met their parents. These kids were taught respect, dignity, and integrity from home. They mamas didnt play!haha. There were Mormons, Catholics, Methodists, Pentecostals amongst us but we looked past our denominational and ethnic boundaries and just hung out with each other. I write all that to say this about the craziness going on in my hometown. DISCIPLINE STARTS IN THE HOME! Love, respect and an A$$ Whoopin is ALL included in there. I pray that our communities come together and stop all this silliness. OFA ATU...ALOFA TELE ATU!!!
