In 1999, two Political Parties –the PDP and the AD-APP, contested the Presidential Election. Here is the Vote Breakdown by Ethnic Regions. 1. North-West Region (Hausa/Fulaniland) 1,684,934 –AD/APP 3,884,536 –PDP Hausa/Fulani people voted for the PDP 2. North-East Region (Kanuriland) 1,331,136 –AD/APP 2,762,605 –PDP Kanuri people voted for the PDP 3. South-East Region (Igboland) 978,997 –AD/APP 2,307,712 –PDP Igbo people voted for the PDP 4. North-Central Region (Middle Belt) 1,543,130 –AD/APP 4,464,776 –PDP Middle Belt people voted for the PDP 5. South-South Region (Ijawland) 1,205,087 –AD/APP 4,226,330 –PDP Ijaw people voted for the PDP 6. South-West Region (Yorubaland) 4,366,993 –AD/APP 1,092,216 –PDP Yoruba people voted for the AD/APP It is obvious from the results above that apart from the Gambari of the North-West and the North-East, the Igbo, Ijaw and the Middle Belt, all voted and imposed the PDP on the rest of the country. The Gambari are against the PDP today for the reason that, the current president is not a Gambari. The Igbo and Middle Belt retained their support for the PDP today, because the current president protects their economic and political interests. The Ijaw are with the PDP today, because the current president is their son. The Yoruba are divided. They are the only people who voted against the PDP in 1999. We are clearly divided in term of support for the PDP. PDP does not meet our economic and political interests. We have always wanted fiscal federalism (economic interest) and Autonomous Regional Government (political interest). Our Political Leader Mr. Tinubu wants to work with the Gambari to help them return to the presidency against the current president -Mr. Jonathan. Tinubu desires this not for the interest of the Yoruba but because he does not wish Fashola have more superior political power than himself. He knows a President Fashola would be the De facto Leader of the Yoruba Race at home and abroad. Yoruba is further divided because Obasanjo does not wish to see another Yoruba attains the presidency of Nigeria while he’s still alive. He thwarted Awolowo prospect in 1979 when he rigged on us Shehu Shagari. In 1993, he declared MKO Abiola was not our messiah, when the later won the presidential election of that year. In 2011 and according to Nasir El-Rufia, in his latest book, “The Accidental Public Servant”, Obasanjo lobbied Buhari to appoint Ngozi Okwonjo-Iweala as his Vice Presidential candidate. Currently, the same Obasanjo is fighting tooth and nail to make Sule Lamido the president of Nigeria in 2015. No one needs to criticize Obasanjo for standing against ‘true’ Yoruba as president of Nigeria. He is not Yoruba but Igbo and hates everything Yoruba. The moral lesson here is that the Gambaris - the Northern Elder Forum; Northern Governor Forum and Arewa Consultative Forum, have no moral right to tell us to vote the APC. The PDP they helped imposed on us has become monstrous. We can’t afford another mistake. In 2015, it is Fashola or a South-South national as candidate of the APC or four more years for President Jonathan.
