In 2005 I left the Catholic Church and transitioned to Unitarian Universalism, where I continue to try and live out my progressive Christian faith. In the process I have let go of the idea that Jesus died and literally rose from the dead after three days. However the Paschal Mystery and Easter continue to be meaningful for me. The tale, even if it may be fable, is still relevant to my life. The Easter story is a reminder of the eternal triumph of love over hate, hope over despair, fullness over emptiness, and light over darkness. Jesus may not have literally died and risen in history, but he does so in my heart and in my life. And that is why I continue to celebrate Easter. Have a blessed day, everyone!
