In 2006, the then Loyal Official Opposition HarperCons, declared their support for the 2002 Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture (OP CAT) as “an important human rights treaty that strives to establish independent monitoring of detention facilities”. We are speaking of INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHST/TORTURE here, NOT ONLY a federal revenue grab as in the GST, which MANY people still LOVE criticizing the federal Liberals for, again, NOT following through on their promise to scrap it.
