In 2007, 32 people were fatally shot in a dorm and classroom at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, before the gunman killed himself. A gunman killed five people and injured 18 when he opened fire in a Northern Illinois University lecture hall in 2008. Seven people were killed and three injured when a 43-year-old former student opened fire at a tiny school, Oikos University, in Oakland, California, in 2012. Last month, Elliot Rodger killed six people and injured seven before turning his gun on himself in a rampage in Isla Vista, California near UCSB. And then just today someone with a shotgun and knife walked into Otto Miller Hall on the campus of Seattle Pacific University, fatally wounding one person, critically wounding another, and wounding 2 more. Are we really going to continue to deny that we have a serious problem in this country??? Are we really going to be more concerned with what Honey Boo Boo or who Cameron Diaz is dating now? Of everyone who read this post, give me a shout out if this is the first you are hearing about a shooting on a college campus in Seattle that happened TODAY *My numbers came from AP reporters Donna Gordon Blankinship & Rachel La Corte.
