In 2011 The IEIYC along with Dream Activist staged a civil disobedience action calling out Obama on deportations and calling for an end to S-Comm and 287g. That same year Co-founder Jesus Barrios traveled to Alabama, to infiltrate a detention center along with members of the NIYA. In 2012, IEIYC members demanded that Obama issue an executive order stopping deportations of DREAM Act eligible youth. With inaction from the president members (Javier, Jahel, Luis Nolasco) took over OFA campaign offices in Denver, Los Angeles, and Oakland along with other offices from across the country. This resulted in what is now known as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Not satisfied with the endless deportations and broken promises, 3 young mujeres (Dianey, Lyseth, and Mitzie) from the IEIYC took action in 2013, to jump-start the #NotOneMore Campaign in California. The IEIYC has not advocated for political parties or agendas, we have fought for the undocumented community. We have endured criticism and challenges, yet have persevered and have been part of winning campaigns. We will continue to fight for justice and dignity in the coming years, till deportations stop and unjust policies end.
