In 2012, Award winning choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui wrote a 90 minute ballet focusing on the life of the worlds first modern day manga artist, Osamu Tezuka. This ballet tells the story of his life, his beliefs, his art styles, and his legacy as seen through the eyes of his characters. The two main Narrators are his most beloved creations: Astro Boy and The Buddha. But other characters, such as Black Jack, The Phoenix, and even a manga version of Tezuka himself make appearances. This is a unique performance because people can watch this show without having any knowledge of his work or life. It is a shame, however that no schedule has been made for it to come to the US. But Im hoping it catches the attention of someone soon. Consisting of 10 dancers, 1 martial artist, and 1 calligrapher, this is one ballet I would recommend for all people
