In 2014, I: made my living working as a full time freelance writer, artist and teaching artist was lead writer on a project for the mouse won a national improv competition had my play performed in Bath, England, Phoenix, and Chicago (twice) traveled a LOT (too much?) performed improv in Hawaii got sick enough to go to the ER met with one of the lead writers of the Simpsons finished writing my episodes for the Chinese sitcom won another Kennedy Center award (third year in a row woo!) was the guest star in an improv show in The San Francisco taught improv workshops in SF, Phoenix, and LA taught theater to kids in Rupert, Idaho and Anchorage, Alaska visited China for the first time in 8 years was hosted, housed and fed by a producer friend in Shanghai as we talked about my plays was the voice for a bunch of zombies in an animated short was in a relationship with an awesome girl worked on a green screen set for the first time ate lots of bacon did ADR/looping voiceover work for the TV show Fargo was invited to Omaha Nebraska for a playwriting conference where I met some of the coolest playwrights and humans ever submitted to a boatload of playwriting fellowships, winning none (but getting to finalist stage in a few!) turned down a playwriting residency due to schedule conflicts auditioned for Power Rangers met the guy who got the part I auditioned for in the movie Maze Runner at another audition, because Asian actors in LA get sent in for the same 4 roles went to Disneyland - several times worked as social media manager for a comic book store did my taxes completely by myself for the first time bought health insurance for myself for the first time had workshops and readings of my plays at ASU and in LA drove from LA to Phoenix to LA way too many times was lead narrative writer and designer for two theme park projects in China traveled to NYC 3 times took too many pictures of my mom and stepdads amazing home cooking slept a lot in airports wrote and directed a musical for a summer camp attended a wedding cried at a wedding Drove to Idaho, stopping at caves and Lagoon Theme Park and the Shadiest Hotel of my Life along the way ended a great relationship because long distance sucks had a car survive the whole year without getting totaled by any girls running red lights or myself (knock on wood) finished a new play taught and performed with Leela Theater in San Francisco had a spree of graphic design commissions for logos taught a sketch writing class for JesterZ ...and will ring in the new year performing improv. In 2015, there will be plenty of travel, teaching, writing, and performing. Cheers to the New Year.
