In 48 hours, our communities have rallied together for the benefit of one! My mom used to tell me: as individual sticks we break easy, as a bundle we are unbreakable! This statement has never been so true then the past few days. It began with a horrible event, and then our AMAZING FIREFIGHTERS gave it there all and did a remarkable job. Now ALL OUR COMMUNITIES, MANY DELTA COUNTY SCHOOLS, and SO MANY PEOPLE FROM ALL AROUND have come together for the Mendoza Family! As of noon on Tuesday, Nov. 25th we have raised close to $5000.00 for them, with almost $1000.00 worth of gift cards. Many donations have been graciously given to the family. Items such as, homemade quilts, towels, hygiene items, clothes, shoes and many, many more items that this family desperately needed. Jorge (dad) was able to get the steel toe boots he needed and he went back to work today! During the Thanksgiving holiday break, donations can be dropped off at either the Pack Shack or Rocky Mt. Locksmith, both located in Hotchkiss. There is a benefit fund at the 1st State Bank of Colorado. Items still needed are: Towels, bathroom items, washer/dryer, chairs for a kitchen table (we have a table), dressers, and kitchen items. Once we place them in a house we will re-inventory for items they may still need. Thank you to everyone for contributing to help this family.
