In 60s buying Radio quite a family event.. As a kid remember vaguely a shop called some Khanna Radio Corporation in front of Hot Stuff . Next to Anil Book Stall. We had bought NELCO Radio. More vivid was the gentleman behind the counter had such an affectionate smile. He gave the biggest treasure of my life..A toy that used to come with Binaca Tooth paste.. Whenever passing the street would like to have peep to what is happening in that shop . Later got to know it was owned by the family of Sushil Khanna . He was the School Captain in St Josephs then.. He was very senior.. But there was a sense of proxy pride . Later found Sushil went to IIM Calcutta did PhD and is now a Faculty cum Consultant there bit.ly/1t7MAO4. What fascinating and genre people were there.. Just that little Binaca toy could do to remember even after 5 decades .. Maybe it was a tahzeeb of Civil Lines to make the customer feel that they own the shop .. Can you find such practices elsewhere? . Mind you that was no marketing gimmicks.. But a habit of the customer relationship bond.. Anyone remembers that Radio shop.?
