In Acts, chapter twenty-one, we find an intriguing situation. When you are convinced that God wants you to do something, and others are equally convinced that He is warning you away from doing something, what should you do? Paul was convinced that he needed to go to Jerusalem, but many others were equally convinced that he should not, even prophesying that he would be bound and imprisoned. Ultimately those prophecies came true. We can speculate on whether it was good or bad for Pauls evangelism for him to be arrested and prevented from traveling on behalf of the gospel. Pauls headstrong rush to Jerusalem, ignoring other input, may have been contrary to biblical counsel that seems to indicate consensus opens the door for communication from God. (Matthew 18:20) But if that was the case, God also has a lesson in this story that He does not abandon us even if we make wrong choices. He continued to protect Paul through threats both on land and at sea. God may not deliver us from the ultimate consequences of our choices, but He continues through the dark valleys with us, even if we choose to go there in spite of every warning, Blessings, Stephen Terry Director Still Waters Ministry
