In April of 2005 Tonette Chatman from Unity in Chicago recommended I check out this newish place called Bodhi Spiritual Center. As a young single mom I was looking for community, something substantive that would spiritually feed me. When I heard Om Shanti by Rickie Byars Beckwith that first Sunday I knew I was where I needed to be for she, Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith and Mary Morrissey had been my teachers until that time. After hiding out at Bodhi for awhile I met this boisterous ball of energy Marsha Craig who just about forced me into taking classes and I am so glad she did! The first class I took was Calling in The One with Sara Connell Author Speaker Coach. I was hooked! Voraciously taking classes I encountered one of my greatest teachers Rev. Mark Anthony Lord. I took Bodhis classes like my life depended on it and deep, powerful change started working in my life. My first prayer partner Tom Bob Nedderman, was unlike ANYONE I had ever met in the most wonderful way!! And THEN the most unassuming man entered my world, Nathan Wright. Neither of us could figure it out but we knew we were to be together and together we were, swiftly and dramatically (a story for another day). A dark night of the soul to follow we left our beloved community for three years as we white knuckled our way through life. During that time I had this chronic urge to complete the training I began there. In July of 2012 Kim Revere, Marsha and Tom Bob came out for an afternoon pedicure and dinner. They were like a TALL glass of water...their crazy, fun spirits had me remind them on a wild trip to Whole Foods Market River Forest that I would still live in Oak Park after they left! I dont think Oak Park knew what hit it that day. And so began our familys return to Lincoln Park each Sunday morning. So tonight, 9 years, 3 attempts and 2 more children later I am taking the final written exam to be a Licensed Spiritual Practitioner with the larger organization, Centers for Spiritual Living. With Anne Rossiter, Drew Bales, Ashley Lyn, Megan Blythe Rische, Linda Michaels, Susan OHalloran, Mirjana Gesme, Rose Mulroney, Donna Ruby, Gracy Ji Huston, Gary Pelletier, Cheryl Coons, Keith Jachim, Joan Annes Coletto, Aimee Jackson Daniels, Kate Miller, Darrell Jones, Kevin Pritchett, Linda Jackson, Dhamana Shauri, Donna Pitz, Rainbow Weldon, Charles Hall, Denise Schubert on hand and in heart and with John W. Adams, Melissa Bingham and Beth Salzman Gordon as classmates I celebrate an end and a beginning of the next leg of this journey!!!! One Heart, One Mind, One Love...lets do this!
