In April of this year, I lost my nephew Austin, who was just 16, to suicide. He was an amazing young man, a former moto-cross champion, an up-and-coming dirt track street-stock driver, and had every possession and trinket and toy that a young man could have ever wanted. Yet the one thing he never had, was the ability to conquer his depression. After his passing, my family and I began a non-profit called The 1 Lap Ahead Foundation, to help provide assistance to families who have dealt with youth suicide, and to also begin work on creating a new suicide prevention program for our school system. Its been a huge undertaking thus far, and most certainly will continue to be a huge part of mine and my families daily lives. Suicide is 100% preventable, and I cant stress enough to everyone that depression is real, and it is dangerous. Please dont ever be afraid to reach out for help. ~Gonzo
