In Daddy Issues, my police chief character Jim Murphy says this about kids and our jobs as parents. "They’re gonna get beaten up in life. Our job is to make sure the beatings don’t hurt too bad and that the scars don’t show too much.” It seems the parents beat up on the kids just as much as the world does. I have an acquaintance who is hard on his kids. He wants them to know the world is a rough place. My thinking is that the world is going to teach them that lesson soon enough. I want them to know that home and family is a safe place no matter how rough the world. Daddy Issues is still free in all ebook formats.
