In December, Prosecutor Bensouda asked for a three-month adjournment of Kenyatta’s trial to “undertake additional investigative steps”. The Kenyan president’s trial was originally set to start on 5 February. ICC Trial Chamber V(b) ruled yesterday that, rather than a trial, on that day a status conference would be held in order to address the issues raised by the parties in relation to this request. Do you think the ICC should grant Bensouda’s request for a three-month adjournment, or should the trial resume regardless of how much evidence the prosecution has gathered?
