In Honor of the Air Forces 67th birthday this week, we will be honoring our Air Force Veterans. We Honor two Air Force Veterans today, a grand father who served in WWII and his grandson who also served in the Air Force following his grandfathers foot steps. Eddie McLaurin Eddie was a Tuskegee Airman in the U.S. Air Force during WWII for which he earned the Congressional Gold Medal (pictured with his gransdon). He retired as a First Lieutenant after 30 years of service. He earned a BS degree in Military Science and Tactics from the University of Maryland. He completed training at the Army Research and Development Laboratory at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia where Army, Navy and Air Force personnel were trained to operate nuclear power plants. He served as a nuclear physics instructor at Ft. Belvoir. He was also awarded an honorary doctoral degree by Tuskegee University in February 2006. M. Kevin Bowen Kevin is a third generation Airman and grandson of Eddie McLaurin (also pictured) served in the U.S. Air Force from 2003 to 2007 as an Air Transportation specialist. He left active duty for the Reserves as a Staff Sergeant in 2007. He was stationed at Ramstein AB with the 723rd Air Mobility Squadron and with the 67th Aerial Port Squadron at Hill AFB. Kevin began working at the VA in 2011. Kevins mother also retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving 20 years in Germany, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and several bases stateside. Other members of Kevins family that have served in the U.S. Air Force include his aunt Caroline (20years), Uncle Barry (22 years), and his cousin Lisa (8 years). We thank both of you for your service to our country.
