In Japan (and other places I have lived), this is considered honorable way to teach values of good work and ambition to ones children. In America, land of so much good and also many spoiled children, this is known as being a bad dad or mean parent. Parents who love their children must find balance between leaving their heirs nothing or everything. Especially when the deceased parent passed on for his own lack of strong willpower (powerful drug overdose even for an apparently long-addicted user)
