In John chapter 14 Jesus told his disciples not to be troubled. They believe in God, they should also believe in him. He told them there were many houses in heaven and that he would be going away to prepare a place for them. He told them that he would return and receive them to himself so that they could be where he was. Thomas told Jesus that they didn’t know where Jesus was going and they didn’t know the way. Jesus told them that he was the way, the truth, and the life, and no one could go to the Father except through him. Jesus told the disciples that if they knew him they would also know the Father. Phillip asked Jesus to show them the Father. Jesus told Phillip that he still didn’t know him after all the time they had been together. Jesus said that if they had seen him, they have also seen the Father. Jesus explained that he was in the Father and the Father was in him. He explained that He did not speak of his own accord, but that the Father worked through him. Jesus said that those believing in him would do even greater works than Jesus had done. Jesus told them they could ask anything in his name and he would do it so the Father would be glorified. Jesus said that if we love him we will keep his commandments. Jesus said that he would ask the Father to send another comforter, the Spirit of Truth. The world wasn’t able to receive him because the world doesn’t know him. Jesus said that his followers knew him because he was with them and would be in them. Jesus said that they would know that he is in the Father, that they are in him, and that he was in them. Jesus told them that the ones who keep his commandments are those who love him. Jesus said those that love him will be loved by him and the Father, and he would reveal himself to them. Judas Iscariot asked Jesus how he would reveal himself to them and not reveal himself to the world. Jesus said that those who love him will keep his commands, the Father would love him, and they would make their home with them. Those who do not love me will not keep my commandments. The Father will send the Holy Spirit in Jesus name, and the Holy Spirit will teach us all things, and remind us of everything that Jesus said. Jesus told his disciples that he was leaving them with his peace. Jesus told them that if they loved him they would be happy that he was going to the Father. Jesus told them these things in advance so that when it happened they would believe. He told them the ruler of this world was coming but that he had no power over him. Jesus said that he was going away and that the world would know that he loved the father and done as the Father had commanded him.
