In June, 2014, Jeannie Pierce Seegers died due to gastroparesis. Jeannie suffered for 21 years and her family did everything in their power to find her the best care. That involved a lot of travel and the costs added up but they were fortunate to receive some assistance from friends, churches and other organizations. They know that not every patient has those resources available to them and many forego treatment because they cannot afford to travel to see the doctors that might be able to help them. To honor their daughter and help others, the family is setting up a nonprofit organization that would provide stipends to qualified patients to help them cover travel expenses to receive care. During the wait time to get their nonprofit status approved, they’ve set up an account to begin collecting donations. While we rarely post anything on this page that could be considered solicitation, we have made an exception for this needed program. So far, there is no process in place for individuals to apply. This will be worked out in the next few weeks and information will be posted here as soon as it is available.
