In Kathmandu, Nepal, experts estimate 8.0 earthquakes strike the area every 75 years. In order to save lives upon future disasters, alumnus Suresh Ojha created project Radio Mala with fellow UC Davis alumni and experts from the Silicon Valley. Radio Mala is a radio system that allows communication in the immediate aftermath of a disaster in Kathmandu. As a three step process, a long-range radio station has already been placed on the top of Tribhuvan University. Radio Mala seeks completion by the end of 2014. Inspired by Sureshs story?
