In November 2006, the second issue of the coop’s newsletter, “Bits & Pieces” (edited by Dherly Valencia), announced the winning entry to the coop’s logo-making contest. There were six contenders in all, and the one that was adjudged as the best emblem for the coop completely and artfully brought out elements that point to the history of the coop—how it started and evolved and then poised itself to move onward. Read what Gerry Naguit, the creator of Acempc’s logo, had written to accompany his entry: “Persons with hands clasped to one another. The 19 figures represent the current 19 elected officers who collectively exerted their efforts towards the transformation of our credit cooperative to a multi-purpose cooperative. The officers are strategically placed at the outerside, encircling the logo to symbolize their leadership, guidance, and stewardship over the entire affairs of the cooperative. “On a general perspective, these figure represents the officers & members (the general assembly) of ACEMPC who work hand in hand to attain the vision and objectives of the cooperative - to foster camaraderie and cooperation among members in order to secure more economic opportunities. “The circular formation of the logo symbolizes continuity and perpetuity of the existence of ACEMPC and its service to all its members. “Four column structure. The four columns, taken as one, represent the newly constructed ACEMPC Multi-Purpose Building which will usher escalating economic benefits for the entire members of the cooperative. Taken separately, the columns symbolize a graph which reflect ACEMPC’s historical growth & sustained progress, to wit: 1st column – represents the period when it started as a paluwagan in 1964; 2nd column – represents the period when it was institutionalized as Angeles City Employees Kilusang Bayan for Credit, Inc. in 1982; 3rd column - represents the period when it was formally registered at the Cooperative Development Authority as Angeles City Employees Credit Cooperative in 1991; 4th column - represents the current period when it was converted as a multi-purpose cooperative. The four columns also represent the four initial business ventures of ACEMPC within the multi-purpose building: credit assistance, food terminal, commissary, and function hall. “The city logo. It represents our bond of institutional membership; our identification as public servants in the Angeles City Government. “The font. The acronym is written in digital font to symbolize the cooperative’s modernity, resilience, and ability to adapt or transform itself in accordance to the needs of the members and the call of time.” [Bits & Pieces, Year 1 Issue 2, November 2006]
