In Perth 2009, the tests revealed Ajmal on average straightens his arm about 8 degrees, well with in ICC tolerance limit. Brisbane in 2014 says all his deliveries exceed the tolerance limit of 15 degrees. Bowlers are now being tested under new protocols but such a huge contrast between two results is surprising.Was the procedure used for more than a decade was extremely wrong or extremely lenient? Interesting thing is that Ajmals action was cleared in 2009 under the protocols which also cleared Muralitharan, Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee, Harbhajan Singh, Shoaib Malik etc. It appears that these bowlers (some very big names and with many world records) would have been in serious trouble if they were tested under new the protocols which in last few months have suspended Sachithra Senanayake, Kane Williamson and Saeed Ajmal etc.
