In Police Rounds COONAMBLE On Tuesday 25th November 2014 Police attached to Coonamble Police Station participated in a high visibility joint truancy operation with Department of Education specialist staff. Police and education department staff spoke to a number of young people during the course of the morning with several students producing notes and permission slips for their non-attendance. Truancy and crime involving young people is a focus for the Castlereagh Local Area Command and these operations will be conducted regularly throughout the school year. COONAMBLE In the early morning of Sunday 23rd of November 2014 two Coonamble residents parked their vehicles at the Coonamble Swimming Pool. Later that afternoon a young person known to Police has used an Allan key and removed the LED lights off the vehicle. The young person has then gone a short distance and hidden the lights before returning to the swimming pool. The Young Person has then removed an LED light bar from the second vehicle before being confronted by a passer by. The Young Person dropped the light bar on the ground and left the area. Police were provided the identity of the Young Person by numerous witnesses and arrested the Young Person a short time later. The Young Person has now been directed to appear before Coonamble Local Court to answer the charges of steal from a motor vehicle. At this time lights from one car are still outstanding with a value of approximately $400.00.
