In Surah Qasas, Allah mentions the account of Prophet Musa (as) - TopicsExpress

In Surah Qasas, Allah mentions the account of Prophet Musa (as) when he arrives in Madyan and sees a group of men giving water to their flock of sheep and two women holding back their sheep on the side waiting to water their flocks. Allah describes how the women were struggling and wrestling with the sheep to prevent them from going to drink the water as they were waiting. Musa (as) sees them like this and helps them and waters their sheep for them. In ayah 24, Allah says: So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need. [28:24] This du’a of Musa (as) is one of my favorites in the Qur’an because it is so powerful and so humbling. After Musa (as) helps water the sheep, something that requires effort and strength but regardless, something small…he tells Allah that my Lord, my Master, I am desperately in need, I am faqeer…I am bankrupt, broken, desperately in need of any good that you send my way. SubhanAllah! There are soooo many lessons that we can draw from this ayah but just some personal reflections:Any opportunity of good that we have no matter as small as opening the door for someone or even picking up something off the floor to something big like a large scale dawah project or a community program…all of it is directly from Allah and is an opportunity and blessing from Allah. Even the journey, the small pieces of the puzzle that Allah put together to guide you to that opportunity to do good is a blessing and something we should be grateful for. Every little thing. From the small to the big…we are desperately in need of every opportunity…we are bankrupt and broken without those opportunities. Sometimes when you get caught up in activism or any kind of volunteer work or dawah work, after a while it can get to your head. Wavering of intentions is something that no one is safe from and it’s something that we have to struggle with every single day. But this du’a is always humbling…whenever you do anything good, we should remind ourselves, just like Musa (as) did, that WE were the ones in need of it. Praise goes to Allah, not ourselves or our abilites, for providing us with the circumstances and strengths to accomplish anything. All good truly is from Allah. ‘Another reflection from this ayah is that we should try to seize every opportunity and make the most out of it to do good. If Allah is opening the door for us to do some good, we shouldn’t become lazy…make the most of it inshAllah. If you see a homeless person…give something, even if its just a nickel or a dime. If you see the sadaqa box at the masjid…give a penny if thats all you have. If you see something on the floor…pick it up and throw it away. Hold the door open for people, smile at people, share beneficial information, check up on people, make use of every opportunity realizing that you were desperately in need of it and thanking Allah for it. The more we make this du’a, the more humble we become, realizing that whenever we do something good…we’re not doing anyone else a favor, we’re actually doing a favor for ourself. *Reminder to myself first, inshAllah! #QuranicReflections In Surah Qasas, Allah mentions the account of Prophet Musa (as) when he arrives in Madyan and sees a group of men giving water to their flock of sheep and two women holding back their sheep on the side waiting to water their flocks.
