In Tamil Nadu, the power generation at the Kudankulam nuclear power plant, has attained a record level of 570 mega watt, says the Plant site Director R S Sundar. The power generation in Kudankulam Nuclear plant started last October.AIR correspondent reports that the first unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant in Tamil Nadu has achieved a landmark of 570 mega watts power generation, out of its full capacity of 1000 mega watt. This is the highest power generation by any single nuclear power unit in the country according to site director R S Sundar.Till now Tarapur Atomic Power Station was holding the record of generating 540 mega watt power from its 3rd and 4th units. The power generation in Kudankulam will slowly be increased to 750 MW, 900 MW and then finally to its full capacity of 1000 MW in stages.The second unit at Kudankulam nuclear power plant will also start its power generation soon as containment pressure test was held successfully. This has given hope to generate more electricity for industrial and domestic needs.
