In Tanauan, a blind man in his 50’s lives alone and can do almost anything a man of normal sight can do. He can climb a coconut tree, clear the lawn, fetch his own water from the nearby deep well, cook his food, and clean his home. On July 25, he is provided with a 20-kilo sack of Taiwan rice to augment his food needs. Aside from being an elder sister, Jamaica Alagon had taken over the roles of her mother and father for the sake of her three younger siblings. Their father had been imprisoned in 2011 while their mother had run away in 2012 and never came home again, leaving Jamaica the responsibilities of her parents upon her juvenile shoulders. They had been allocated a total of 40 kilos rice.
