In Zilqa’da, sixth hijri, our Prophet Mohammad (Sallallahu - TopicsExpress

In Zilqa’da, sixth hijri, our Prophet Mohammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) reached Makkah for the purpose of performing umrah, but upto that time, Makkah was under the control of kaafir people. They did not allow our beloved Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and His companions to enter Makkah, who, thus could not perform umrah that year. But the kaafir’s promised them that they will let them perform umrah in the next year. Then in Zilqa’da, seventh hijri, our beloved Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) again went to Makkah along with other Muslims. The muslims suspected that the kaafir’s may break the promise and again may not allow them and may start fighting with them. On this, Allah (Subhana wa taala) tells the believers to fight for Allah’s cause with the kaafir’s who begin to fight with them. But they should not initiate fight themselves and should not break the promise, nor cross the limits. For Allah does not love those who cross the limits. And if the kaafir’s break the promise, the Muslims should kill them wherever they find them and should turn them out from Makkah from where they have forced our beloved Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) to do *Hijra. Allah (Subhana wa taala) has called *persecution (ill treatment and breaking of promise) to be worse crime than killing because the *persecution leads to killing. Allah (Subhana wa taala) ordered the Muslims not to fight with the kaafirs at the Sacred Mosque (Masjid-e-haram) in Makkah, unless they first fight them. But if the kaafir’s start fight with the Muslims in the Holy Ka’ba, the Muslims should kill them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith. And Allah may forgive the kaafir’s who stop fighting with Muslims and embrace Islam, for Allah is often forgiving and Most Merciful. Allah (Subhana wa taala) ordered the Muslims to fight the kaafir’s until all the kaafir’s are removed from the Ka’ba and until the religion becomes completely only Allah’s and there is no ill treatment with Muslims in the Sacred Ka’ba. The Muslims should be *hostile only to those kaafir’s who continue fighting with them (and are cruel and unjust) but Allah (Subhana wa taala) says: Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you but do not *transgress limits; For Allah loveth not *transgressors (190). And slay them wherever you catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for persecution is verse than *slaughter; But fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; But if they fight you, *slay them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith (191). But if they *cease, Allah is oft-forgiving, Most Merciful (192). And fight them on until there is no *persecution and the religion becomes Allah’s. But if they *cease, let there be no *hostility except to those who practice *oppression (193). Word meaning: *hijra: the movement of our beloved Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) from Makkah to Madinato escape persecution a.d. 622: regarded as beginning of Muslim era. *persecution: ill treatment. *hostile: opposed; enemy. *embrace: accept willingly. *transgress: to violate a law; to go beyond a limit. *transgressor: one who violates a law. *slaughter: killing *slay: to kill. *cease: to stop; discontinue. *hostility: unfriendliness; enmity. *oppression: to exercise power in cruel or unjust manner.
