In a conversation with my pa-in-law (a pro photographer) today evening he recalled how Ashok Kumar had complete control over the Arriflex camera used for cinematography. In their association he remembers how Ashok Kumar could take a perfectly composed shot whether it was 6:45 in the morning or evening. No wonder he excelled in those morning jog shots and evening fog shots in Nenjatthai Killathey. But to me his brilliance came in Jhonny - I havent seen a sweeter Sridevi and a pleasing Superstar in any other movie - sans make up. The hall mark of photographic excellence is to master available light which this genius excelled - he had just one more up his sleeve - no one could take better masked shots required for double-action movies. Watch Shankers Jeans and you will know. Thanks Sir - you gave us goose bumps when we watched your movies. We can never forget you........RIP.
