In a followup news report, the womans grandchildren contacted Brandi Newman (she took the video and its her link) and told her that the grandmother has a panhandling permit and wasnt doing anything illegal. I remember my first time in Baltimore I saw a woman with a panhandling permit. GTFOOH. I have 2 thoughts here: 1)Its better to give and get scammed by one than to not share and possibly deny many many more people who are in need. And 2) She and her grandchildren for that matter should be ashamed. Obviously where I live and work I see lots of panhandling going on. There was a woman (or maybe shes still there) who panhandles and has for years near my office. A friend of mine saw her and reported to me that woman had been panhandling for years previously in another part of DC. She puts up different signs...kids need food, need rent money etc. I see her son there one day in a football uniform. Sometimes she posts a sign that says its her birthday. Ive seen her on the train, with a fresh pedicure, and she always has had a better cell phone than me. Oh and the heavy Northface coat she wears in winter (although I was ableto potentially reason the coat could have been a donated item). And shes so rude...talks on her phone all the time. Hey if you want me to give you money, HANG UP THE PHONE. I think people get down on their luck and need a handout. It happens. I can be compassionate and I am 100% ok with giving money to someone who genuinely needs it. But this should not be your job. If you need help, thats understandable. But if youve been panhandling for years...YEARS. How about getting a job...a real job? How about you be part of society not by getting handouts but by getting a job and having to pay taxes LIKE THE REST OF US? You get a tax free payday every day but Im paying tons of taxes. You suck. Wow I was holding that in for a while. Anyway this woman below...Im disgusted. At least some people try to give you a lie or a story...even though theyre all over played. my car broke down and I need money for a taxi, im a single mother of 3 and about to be evicted. I could go on and on. Im sure many of you will not share the same thoughts that I have. Either way, this woman on the video...ugh the worst.
