In a friends post, I remembered something I shall share here! I used to go hiking, biking and exploring. When I married my first wife, she would go with me most times. Being the Tall, Dark and Scary guy, most people chose to go by unspeaking. Eye contact some times, a nod maybe, that was it. In talking to a friend of mine, he told me about putting a weight on the end of a fishing line.......with no hook. He could sit and drink all day, with everyone that passed smiling and talking, even commiserating that his luck was terrible. the next time I went exploring, I took a pole with a weight (no hooks), and put it in place when I found a great place to sit. For the first time in my Life, people went out of their way to stop by, ask about my luck, share stories, commiserate, and generally j6st be companionable and Human! That was when I truly began to pay attention to the little things that drew people together and created conversations. It was the first tool I learned to become social, and it wasnt the last. And it placed me in line to develop a personality that fits everywhere, or at least, everywhere I have foumd myself so far!
