In a major development, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has decided to utilize the space below the citys flyovers by building parks, parking lots and toilets. According to GMC commissioner S Viswanathan, utilizing these spaces will benefit the public. The area below the flyovers is mostly vacant. So, we are working on developing these areas by making parks, parking places and, most importantly, toilets for men and women, he said. Initially, work will begin on flyovers in Ganeshguri, Ulubari, Six Mile and Athgaon from August. Parking under flyovers was banned after the 2008 bomb blasts in the city.via The Times of India
