In a passage of Sahifa Sajjadiyah, Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) prays for the soldiers of Islam; this is among the things on which he put an emphasis: O’God! Take away from them the obsession, affection and attachment to seditious belongings. Belongings and fortunes are highly dangerous and seditious and caused many people’s faith to shake. We have seen prominent figures throughout history who have gone astray as they reached this point. Thus you should be very watchful. What is this watchfulness called according to the holy Sharia law? Taqwa [piety]. The fact that throughout Quran piety has been strongly advised is indicative of being watchful and taking care of oneself. The self is greedy. When I read on the printed media that you have made a decision to revise certain issues related to Parliament and some unnecessary privileges, I truly became pleased and prayed for those who support this.
