In a way practice of imposition of fasting on Karwa Chath and Teej - TopicsExpress

In a way practice of imposition of fasting on Karwa Chath and Teej by women reflect double standard of Indian Society, more so of Indian men, though women equally approve this...True, that no one compels women to observe fast, but our social tradition is such that it has been given the name of part of Indian culture..Definitely men made all these traditions long back only to keep women in their subjugation and treat women as slave and himself as swami the master.. i wonder how even educated men feel comfortable in getting their feet touched by their life partner whom our ancient culture has defined as jeevan sathi friend for life...why not men should touch their friends feet as well....And then why not a man should touch his jeevan sathis feet mutually on the same day or on two different days ? they both should Aarti utaaro each other..this is really height of demeaning women.. If a woman doesnt follow it, her family member, mostly women will call her arrogant, uncultured, as a result some of them succumb to such unspoken pressure....Relation of men and women are based on equality, keeping fast for men shows mental backwardness on part of women..Are the fasting, touching feet aarti are surest and only way to prove womens love and dedication for their men ? NO ONE CAN DENY GREATER STATUS OF OUR PARENTS THAN THE SPOUSE , BUT DO WE OBSERVE FAST OR DO ANY SUCH THING IN HONOR OF OUR PARENT ? Ironically, we glorify such humiliating customs..,most of youd assert that women do it on their own, some of course do it out of fashion.. Half of the population whom we call women are so much in grip of orthodox and false belief and have deep sense of insecurity and dependency that they accept this subjugation as their submission.. Need to develop ability in ourselves not to accept these weaknesses of our society and treat women equally.
