In a week, I head to Jamaica for the World Council of Churches - TopicsExpress

In a week, I head to Jamaica for the World Council of Churches conference on world music. They have asked me to run a devotional for the conference, and I think Im the only delegate from Oceania (Ill be suggesting a heap of friends who could come next time). Its the fifth Sunday of Easter on the church calendar. This is what Im thinking: - Acknowledgement of Country (an indigenous Australian form of acknowledgement, addressed to indigenous land owners of Jamaica) - Spoken Apostles Creed with didge playing underneath - Psalm 31:1-5 - Medley: At the Cross by Darlene Zschech into the chorus of I believe (Hillsongs new song based on the Apostles creed) - I am hoping to have some indigenous artwork appear on the projector behind the songs: I was thinking of the Southern Cross over the boabab tree and feature Narelle Urquhart from Morning Star art. I will create a little order of service to make sure the artists are credited for their work. If theres time Id love to creatively include a recording of a sacred Haka from the Maori diaspora in Western Sydney via Shannon Said. Liturgists - your thoughts???
