In addition to galaxy-hopping with my scope last night, I tried my hand at wide field astrophotography with a recently acquired Canon Rebel T1i DSLR. I used BackyardEOS software to control the camera and image acquisition, then used DeepSkyStacker software to process the images. Each image is a composite of 10 subs of 60 seconds each. I used a 50mm lens at f4 and ISO 800. The first photo is of the Milky Way rising in the East. The second is the same just a little higher in the sky.
