In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:6 It had been a long time coming – the realization that I had drifted off course. I had the compass but as I became more secure on my use of the instruction manual I started taking shortcuts and adjusting my navigation to suit me. And so slowly but surely I drifted and when I realized I was off course I panicked and forsook the manual all together over compensating therefore becoming lost, completely off course. (My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Proverbs 3:1 & 2) I confess my most recent attempt to navigate life with just a glancing view of ‘Gods map’ has me searching wildly looking back for the how and why I was off course; instead of looking up and forward trusting God for my next step (Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. Proverbs 3:3) my heart where Jesus the Captain of my heart had abided became cluttered, dusty as I used my time in an unfruitful ways. But my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ reminded me through His word to trust Him (Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5) in that deep relational way we’ve enjoyed – where not one thought, one step was made without consulting with Him first. As I read His word - He bid me stop and to trust Him again. To put Him above my desires because what He has for me is ultimately so much more beautiful and precious and more in keeping with His purpose for my life (Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Proverbs 3:13, 15) God will help me with the adjustments that must be made in my life, to reprioritize and throw out the unnecessary. Time spent with Him in prayer and in His word will encourage me to live without the distractions that take my focus off Him and on self. Thank you Lord for Your word that is alive with possibilities, purpose and fruitful wisdom and reproof (For the LORD reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:12) You guide me with love, hope, gentleness and joy! Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:7 & 8
