In an age when the primacy of math and science in education is undeniable, the push to informational texts over fiction has been pushed into classrooms and the visual/performing/musical arts are divorced from the important stuff in the curriculum, how to we talk about creativity and artistic knowledge and self-knowledge in such a way that we can put it into childrens lives at school with enough time and resources to make it significant? The arts are more than extras. But why?
