In an effort to compliment the efforts of the Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi in tackling security challenges in the state, the patriots of Umuchu community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State weekend, donated two brand new patrol vehicles, 10 new motorcycles for each of the 10 villages of the community among other items for the community policing of the town. These items were presented by the president General of the town, Chief Chris Ezeoguine in company of the chairman of the Umuchu Patriots, Chief Fidel Ononuju among other members. The traditional ruler of the town, HRH Igwe Godson Ezechukwu performed the commissioning and official hand over of the items to the Vigilante Service amidst cheers. Recall that Governor Peter Obi in July this year, distributed over 200 security vehicles to all the 177 communities in Anambra State including Umuchu town with a cash backing of N1million each. While presenting the items, Chief Ezeoguine said that the Patriots have commenced plans to procure the patrol vehicles for the security outfit before Governor Obi made the distribution two months ago but added that those items will enable the Vigilante Service discharge their duties diligently. He further explained that the issue of boosting security was borne out of the security challenges the community encountered last year even as he advised the Vigilante members to ensure that they undergo training so as to be better informed on how to secure the town.
