In another post regarding a definition of Jeet Kune Do, these are excerpts taken from a Black Belt article in which Lee, himself, defined Jeet Kune Do: “There is no mystery about my style . . . I owe my achievement to my previous training in the Wing Chun style, a great style. It was taught to me by Mr. Yip Man, present leader of the Wing Chun Clan in Hong Kong . . . Jeet Kune Do is the only no-classical style of Chinese gung-fu in existence today . . . The main characteristic of this style [JKD] is the absence of the usual classical passive blocking.” In other words, generally speaking, according to Bruce Lee, Jeet Kune Do is essentially Wing Chun without the blocking aspect of Wing Chun.
