In approximately a month, Yale University Press will release Sensational Religion: Sensory Cultures in Material Practice. The collection will feature my article, Space Invaders, which argues that the growing visibility of Islam, and the embodied nature of many Muslim practices, will nuance understandings of secular and sacred in many Western societies, and suggests how through several case studies. Specifically, I look at airlines and airports, the so-called Ground Zero mosque project, and public schools. (Think Shariah on a plane.) The article is my first academic publication.
