In bright and breezy conditions, which obviously affected the scoring, 124 players played in the sixth Monthly Medal of the year on Sunday 11 August. In Division 1, Tony Rees was the only player to shoot under par with a 76-6=70. 2nd, 3rd and 4th places were separated by count back, with three players scoring net 71. Keith Housley (81-10=71), Tony Bulleyment (82-11=71) and Mike Burgin (73-2=71). Mike also had the lowest gross score of the day. In Division 2, three players managed sub-par rounds. Steve Warne (85-17=68) was followed in 2nd place by Barry Bradshaw (85-15=70) and Martin Horton in 3rd place (82-12=70). The winner of the Monthly Medal however, was Paul Beecroft playing in Division 3, who had a day to remember with 83-18=65. The next three places in Division 3 went to Eric Fairburn (91-21=70), Keith Harrison (89-19=70) and Andy Chambers (88-18=70). Just a little reminder for those players who decide to have a “No Return”; one player, who shall remain nameless, did persevere with his round even though he had two 11’s, one 12 and what must be a record 21 down the 15th.
