In case you dont know me.. My Name Is Eric Jobe.. Just so we are clear and people dont think I am hiding from my statements. Why does the current Cleburne High School administration deem it necessary to, now change a tradition, not only to our school but ALL Texas Schools? In their infinite wisdom they have decided to limit pep rallys to home games only, in an effort to create better grades.. What in the world does that mean? Your punishing ALL by the actions of others! This is a ridiculous idea. I understand that our schools need to be the best we can be... on a level of education first and foremost of course. What you dont understand is that the ones that work hard at receiving better grades become disheartened. The ones that work are the ones involved in extracurricular activities. So we limit involvement? Previously students were given the option to attend. The ones that dont care are the ones that fail and dont show up. This is yet another reason we need a vocational school so ALL students can learn to apply a skill set. The only ones effected by this are the ones that care! The students that care! What this administration doesnt seem to be enlightened upon is that we are in TEXAS! Our athletic programs should, can and DO bring good students and involved parents to our schools! This is UNDENIABLY how this works.. Athletics breeds good students, good students bring good grades, good grades and attendance brings the district more MONEY from the state. More money from the state means better facilities, better facilities mean more choices of teachers. The more options we have the better we will be. (my sister is a teacher, I dont want to hear BS about that last comment). I will use Aledo for example. That place wasnt built on the math club... it was built on the athletic programs and that folks is the cold hard truth! People say Aledo recruits .. Aledo doesnt have to recruit the GOOD students are there to WIN... not see how well they will do in English! However, I will tell you that they will do good in English, math, everything! You know why??? BECAUSE THEY ARE GOOD STUDENTS WHO WANT TO BE PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL! Just like the few boys that moved in here to play baseball! Do you think they moved here to draw pictures or weld? Dont forget where you are CHS! Dont forget where you have been! Figure it out... we are lost and this decision, to me, veers us further off course! Additionally, if you dont vote and your reading this, then YOU are the problem too! We need programs for ALL our students, not just a portion of them! When our new bond election comes up, go vote for it! We are so far behind here its ridiculous! Ya, you will pay higher taxes.. we are still one of the lowest in the county... do you see the differences that makes around us?? We lose great students to EVERY SCHOOL district around us.. its ridiculous! I have included many on this post because I want many people to see it. I have not asked permission to do so. If you dont want me to do that, unfriend me..delete it or send me a message to not do it.. so I can take the necessary steps not to include you. I understand.
