In case you have not heard, the first concerts of the BIs Ohrlando Chamber Ensemble is behind us and it is no exaggeration to say it was a triumph. The attendance was good, the audiences were very enthusiastic, and there were cheers and standing ovations. It looks like the core of the ensemble is Roland Maurer (bassoon/oboe) and Ursula Hesse (harpsichord). In their concerts, they add members of the local community as appropriate for the music selected. For the first series, they added Garrett Webb playing the recorder and Kathy Fraser playing the cello. They were all wonderful! The concerts were repeated in Kona, Waikaloa and Waimea, and these will be the venues for the second series. In the second series, Roland, Ursula and Kathy will again play and Mary Collier will join them on the violin. The dates and venues are as follows: Waikaloa, Friday Nov 29, 2013, 6 pm at the Waikaloa Community Church Kona, Friday Dec 6, 2013, 6 pm, at the Hualalai Academy, Bridge Bldg. Waimea, Sunday Dec. 8, 2013, 6:30 pm, at the St James Episcopal Church The programs will include works by Fontana, Gluck, Hayden and Handel, among others.
