In every person, there are two beasts, each capable of devouring the other. One is evil through and through. He is made of revenge, sorrow, regret, rage, envy, greed, arrogance, stupidity, superiority, guilt, lies, ego, false pride, inferiority, self-doubt, suspicion, and resentment. The other is everything kind. He is made of peace, blissful tranquility, wisdom, love, joy, hope, humility, compassion, benevolence, generosity, truth, faith, and empathy. They circle one another inside our hearts and fight one another at all times. Day and night. There is no let up, not even during slumber. Be careful which beast you feed, for he will follow you home and live with you until you either make a bed for it to stay, or find the temerity to drive it out. One beast representing darkness, hatred, and madness. One representing light, love, and peace. Whichever you feed, may destroy your life or better it.
