In exactly one week I will be an alum of the University of West Georgia. I will have a B. S. in Sport Management and a minor in Business Management. Im excited and nervous at the same time to close this chapter in my life. It has been 6 years from when I started my college undergraduate classes at Valdosta State University. Ive attended 3 different universities. Started out as a Health and Physical Education major and after a year here at UWG I changed to Sport Management. Spent the last 2 and a half years on the football equipment staff and this year I was the equipment director. I am a very different person today than who I was when I started college, but in so many ways the same person. As I close this chapter I have been looking back on these last 6 years and realized that everything happens for a reason. I chased the dream of playing college football which landed me here at West Georgia. Even though playing football wasnt in Gods plan for my life, I still ended up where I believe God intended me to finish my undergrad. There are so many different people that have helped me through the years to get here. In no way have I done this on my own. I owe a lot to family members, friends, teachers, and coworkers. I am truly blessed. To those who told me I couldnt do it or that college wasnt for me. I just want to say thank you for the motivation and I just want to let you know that in a few short months I will start working on my M. S. in Sport Management at Georgia Southern University. In conjunction with getting my masters, I will also be working with GSU athletics as a graduate assistant on the equipment staff. I have the opportunity to get my masters before my older brother, Charles Thompson III. I cannot even begin to tell you how awesome a feeling that is, Charles. Sorry to call you out like that. Anyway, I think Im done talking for now. Looking back, Go West Go Wolves! Looking forward, GATA!
