In exodus 33 Moses asks God to show him his face but the request is denied since God says nobody can see my face and live but you can see my back. God is saying to Moses nobody can see his full glory and live but after God passes by Moses he can see the afterimage of his glory the leftovers so to speak. Moses then goes down to the people and his face was covered with the after image of God that he had to cover his face
