In gratitude for all the help, support, love and prayers that helped us through and our miracle Mickey I post the following: Tonight my kids and I celebrate 1 year since Alexs last attempt (out of 6 total) to leave this world. I know it seems uncomfortable to talk about but the fact that he has made it 1 year out of that depth of darkness and despair is worth celebrating. My son has fought through his struggles, his mental illness, his pain to find light, hope and willingness to endure one day to the next. My son was given a harder road then most and parenting him has been like a spiritual and emotional open heart surgery without anesthesia. He tells me that the only reason he lives today is because of the fact that I did not give up on him and I never will. Our family has been through some severe darkness and pain and we still have ups and down and extreme intense times but we are miles further then we were a year ago. While I hate mental illness and in many ways autistic spectrum disorder I will not hide them in shame ever they all make me beam with pride that my brilliant and beautiful son has the strength to walk through every day, learn and grow. I am so glad and proud of this last year! We ate pie!!! I am so very blessed!
