“In him [Jesus] was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” - John 1:4-5 Many who have had near death experiences have shared their common experience of an encounter with God as the eternal Light. The universe is but an icon of the eternal Light of the Creator. Just as a painting reveals something of the painter, so the created order (the universe) reveals something of the Creator Himself. However, one must not confuse the art work with the artist Himself. If you wish to find the true Light, allow the creation to be but a spring board into the depths of the eternal Light of Christ Jesus our Lord, the Light who illumines every soul.
