In his 1st letter, the Apostle John presents to us a life which appeared in history in the form of a person, a person who was touched and seen and heard and handled. He was not a figment of the imagination. He was not invented, a composite of the longings and desires of men, projected by their wishful thinking. He is a man "who lived and walked among us", John says. "We touched him, we saw him, we heard him, we handled him." There is a way for you to share this wonderful life today. There is a way that you can have this person, and he can have you and the two of you can live together. When you do, John says, you will experience two wonderful things: First, partnership: You will have the experience of having everything in common, sharing life with God himself, who desires to dwell in you. This will result in profound joy - a secret, quiet excitement within that is not subject to circumstances, feelings or people but burns like a resilient flame throughout every part of your life. It makes life worthwhile, free from boredom. It adds richness and color to every experience you go through. These are not just hopeful words, these are hard facts. This is what John says he is writing to us about. All this will happen when we come to know this living Lord.
